Healing and wellness through art

TMC Health’s Healing Arts Program creates uplifting environments that support patient recovery and emotional well-being. Research shows that thoughtfully chosen art and music in hospitals can ease pain, reduce stress and even accelerate healing—often leading to shorter hospital stays.

Our history

Founded in 2014 by local art collectors Len and Doris Coris, the TMC Health Healing Arts Program was created as a meaningful way for art collectors and artists to share their passions and creativity with the Tucson community.
In 2025, the program became an official department housed within the TMC Health Foundation thanks to the fundraising efforts of the inaugural curator, Lauren Rabb, and made possible with the generous support from the Gary R and Jill B W Sission Endowment.

If you are an artist, patron, patient or someone in-between that's interested in donating to or getting involved with TMC Health's Healing Arts Program, we would love to hear from you!
Please reach out via email at Jenna.Green@tmcaz.com.

TMC Health art collection

Healing Arts Program
The Healing Arts Program accepts donations of gallery-quality artwork and considers all styles of art that would further our mission to enhance the TMC Health experience through the creation and maintenance of a healing environment.
There are currently more than 2,400 works of art installed throughout the TMC Health System, which includes hospitals, clinical offices, cancer centers and infusion sites and clinics. These include:
  • Paintings
  • Mixed media and works on paper
  • Prints
  • Photography
Our art collection features over 2,400 works installed across TMC Health's hospitals, clinical offices, cancer centers and infusion clinics—all made possible through generous donations from artists and collectors, along with grant support from the TMC Health Foundation.
From main lobbies and waiting rooms to corridors and patient spaces, these installations create a healing, welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff while showcasing Tucson’s vibrant art scene and angelic landscape.
Visit our public database at Artwork Archive to view works in the collection from the comfort of your home.

Healing Art Tours

Research shows that art in hospitals can address a variety of outcomes for patients, staff and visitors including reducing anxiety and stress, reduced heart rates and increased well-being. This program suggests more interactive and interpretive tours can also enhance patient, staff and visitor experience.
Interpretive tours, called ArtWalks, are designed to connect people with the artwork displayed at Tucson Medical Center, providing information about the artist, the artistic process/technique and connecting to wellness themes.

Interested in learning more? Request a guided ArtWalks by emailing Jenna Green at Jenna.Green@tmcaz.com.

Music at TMC Health

Photos from the 2025 TMC Foundation Healing Harmony Concert
Since 2014, the Healing Arts Program has hosted professionally trained musicians to bring live music to patients and visitors, including guitarists, harpists, violinists, and violists.
With the goal to expand access to the arts — particularly music — we are excited to announce our new partnership with Tucson Symphony Orchestra! These professionally trained musicians play throughout TMC Health, including TMC and various TMC Cancer Centers.
This partnership falls under a larger program within the Healing Arts Department—Community Creatives Program.
The Community Creatives Program has a dual aim of expanding access to the arts and creating a sense of calm and connection throughout TMC Health. Creatives include musicians and visual artists who offer therapeutic experiences for patients, staff, and visitors.

If you are interested in joining this program, please reach out to Jenna Green at Jenna.Green@tmcaz.com.

How you can help
